Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, and Joseph Stalin all had similar qualities into their rise of power. They were all men who relied on a weak country, in return for promising food, shelter, and money for all of their people. They soon started a political revolution. Mussolini introduced Facism in Italy. Mussolini's military expenditures in Northern Africa made Italy a prominent power in the Mediterranean region. He soon became Prime Minister, and then seized to a dictatorship. Adolf Hitler used propaganda to blame Jews, Gypsies, the Polish, and just about everyone who isn't German to rise to power. Picking a certain group to blame in order to promise food, shelter, and money to a country in a massive depression. He soon rose to power and did not use his power for the greater good. And Joseph Stalin rose to power as a revolutionary political power. Once Vladimir Lenin, the Bolshevik leader died, he used underhanded techniques to rise as a leader to create a poor country into a surpreme military superpower. One such technique was executing any potential political opponent who could oppose Stalin and his rise to power. He was sided with the ally powers in World War II, but soon started a tense relationship with the west known as "The Cold War". Each and everyone of these dictators used manipulation to rise to power, as promising positive things to their people, but soon turning the tables to become power hungry dictators. Mussolini had to side with Adolf Hitler to create a seemingly unstoppable alliance. Every dictator ruled with an iron fist, taking out any who opposed their leadership, but had their deserved falls eventually.
D-Day was completely necessary for the winning of the Allies, and to show what might happen in the future. It was a planned attack that didn't go completely go as planned, but still worked out. The casualties were heavy on both sides, and the United States announced a plan which was different from D-Day to confuse the axis powers. Its purpose was to gain advances in Europe, and to liberate France. It was code named Operation Overlord, and Eisenhower referred to it as "The Great Crusade". The sacrifices of allies will be forever remembered, but was totally and utterly necessary to free prisoners of war, end the holocaust, and take down major dictatorships in Europe, for the greater good.
Truman dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was necessary for ending the United State's war with Japan. It even was necessary for the Cold War, and in current times. Of course, the United States could just also invade Japan and try to win the war into Americas favor. But, in a state of war, a country will prefer the casualties of the enemy over the enemy. Also there was a national hatred for the Japanese due to propaganda gave the full support of United States in dropping the atomic bombs. Everyone seemed fine until people finally realized the sheer destruction an atomic bomb can do. There was over 236,000 Japanese casualties in the first week. The United States strategically dropped them on two cities that are walled in to cause the most destruction. It was necessary to quickly end the war without American deaths, and it is also necessary today since it's highly likely that this has scared other countries from dropping an atomic bomb. Thanks to the involuntary sacrifices of Japanese civilians, it could have possibly saved millions from a different atomic bomb from literally any other country who decides to drop one.
FDR's speech was gateway into a new military world power. The attack of Pearl Harbor gave the United States a literal reason to enter WWII, and to side with the Allies. This was a day of mourning for America, but it soon showed the United State's future revenge of anyone who thinks they can toy with the United States. It showed that we will not let people walk over America, that we wouldn't tolerate their nonsense. The United States showed their prevelence in WWII with an iron fist.
Women might of had the right on paper, it wasn't much. Women were still responsible for taking care of their kids and their husbands. Also the primarily women jobs were nurses and teachers and every woman didn't want to be a woman or a teacher. So most were stuck as a household mother. WWII was a turning point for women though, they took the jobs of men and blacks for the war effort. Women were butchers, laborers, police officers, anything a women wanted to be. It was a dream for them since they finally got to do whatever they wanted. Women were building warships that would normally take a year in two weeks and were under looked in the war effort. But after WWII women started to enjoy their jobs and end up trying to become them, forever changing the work force.
